How dreamcast works.
A live world model dreams one shared stream for everyone. A $DCAST buy with a prompt in its memo gets a 15 s scene slot, and the world melts into it.
How steering works
- Type what happens next (max 80 characters) and an amount of at least the steer minimum (now 0.10 SOL).
- We build one transaction in front of you: a $DCAST buy on pump.fun (or PumpSwap after graduation) plus a memo dcast:v1:<your prompt> signed by your wallet. We simulate it and show you every instruction before your wallet opens.
- You sign in your own wallet. Our indexer sees the buy on chain within seconds and queues your prompt: biggest SOL first, then earliest.
- 3 s before your slot we check that your wallet still holds what the buy gave you. Then the stream gets your prompt and the world melts into it in seconds, live for everyone.
- A 10 s clip of your scene is cut from the broadcast with your wallet and transaction burned in. It is confirmed if you still hold at chapter end.
Steer from any wallet or terminal
Any buy of $DCAST counts if the same transaction carries a Memo-program instruction signed by the buying wallet whose text is exactly:
dcast:v1:a lighthouse grows legs and walks into the sea
UTF-8, at most 96 bytes in total. One steer per transaction; if there are several dcast memos the first one wins; a memo signed by anyone but the buyer is ignored.
Bought on another app without a memo? Claim it within 2:00: paste the signature and your prompt and sign this message (no fee, no transaction):
dreamcast steer claim tx: <signature> prompt: <your prompt> issued: <ISO time>
The wallet must be the buyer, the buy must be confirmed, younger than 2:00, not already steered, and at least the steer minimum.
What the STEER transaction contains
| Compute budget | unit limit 220,000 and a priority price from recent fees, capped at 200,000 micro-lamports |
|---|---|
| Token account | creates your own $DCAST token account if you do not have one (idempotent, rent is yours and refundable) |
| Buy | one pump.fun bonding-curve buy of $DCAST (one PumpSwap buy after graduation), slippage 3%, your wallet is the buyer and the fee payer |
| Memo | dcast:v1:<prompt>, signed by your wallet |
| Nothing else | no transfer to any wallet of ours, no approvals, no other programs. Before the transaction reaches your wallet our server re-decodes it and refuses anything outside this list. |
Hold to air and chapter end
A chapter is 150 s: the WORLD shot, then 9 slots of 15 s from 0:15 to 2:15; the last frame is held 2:25 to 2:30 while the next chapter warms up on a second connection.
Hold to air: your balance is read 3 s before your slot. If it is below what your buy gave you, the row reads “seller · skipped” and the next steer takes the slot. The buy stands.
World-Setter: at 2:30 the biggest steer of the chapter that aired and is still held writes the next chapter’s world. Ties: higher holder-vote weight, then earlier buy. No eligible steer: the dreamer picks.
Per-wallet cap: 2 steers per wallet per chapter; extras wait for the next chapter. Steers older than 6 chapters expire as “not aired”.
Filter and frame safety
Prompts with slurs, gore, nudity or real people’s names air as [filtered]. The buy stands. Political, national, ethnic and religious framing, minors and self-harm are filtered as well, and the filter also reads your last prompts together with the chapter’s last aired prompts, so a split prompt cannot sneak through. You see “this would air as [filtered]” before any money moves. A filtered prompt is never shown and is deleted after 24 h.
Every frame of the stream passes a 4 s delayed gate. Sampled frames are checked; a flagged frame and everything after it is cut, the CHAPTER card covers the gap, the dream is redirected (“the scene fades into calm fog over the same place”) and the log shows “frame cut · rolled back”.
Runway math
runway minutes = (runway + runway reserve wallet SOL) x SOL/USD / Odyssey USD per minute + operator prepaid minutes
Inputs now: Odyssey cost not measured yet (set from the real invoice after the go-live rehearsal; until then the site reads “runway: measuring”). Steer minimum = max(0.10 SOL, slot cost / creator fee rate), where slot cost = cost per minute x 15/60 x 1.133 (the warm second connection) and the creator fee rate is read live from pump.fun’s fee config. At runway 0 the picture freezes and reads DREAM PAUSED; buys still queue.
Fees, every 5 minutes
Every 5 minutes the engine claims the coin’s creator fees and splits them in one transaction: 60% runway, 20% runway reserve (together 80% dream runway) and 20% to the buyback wallet, which buys $DCAST and burns it in the same cycle. Below 0.003 SOL claimable it reads “below minimum, accruing”.
| runway | 5Tdg…2Xow |
|---|---|
| runway reserve | 4j3J…L9sL |
| buyback + burn | 7a5Z…KJ6x |
| fee payer | 6bxk…fz6b |
Runway wallet SOL becomes Odyssey minutes: the operator pays Odyssey off chain (card or invoice); the wallet balances and every conversion are public in the log. The burn is a side effect of usage, not a price promise.
Holder vote
Every 5 minutes the two biggest waiting prompts become options. Wallets holding 1,000,000+ $DCAST vote with a signed message (free): dreamcast vote / window: <id> / option: <id>. Weight = balance at close; a wallet that sold before close is dropped. The winner jumps the line once, and the weight breaks World-Setter ties.
Clips
10 s around the landing, cut from the same broadcast everyone saw, under 8 MB, with SCENE, wallet, SOL, prompt and transaction burned in. A clip is kept for 48 h; its text row stays in the archive for 90 days. “Post clip” opens an X post with the clip page link once the clip is confirmed.
Preview mode and what is live
This page shows a preview feed until every go-live check holds: the real Odyssey stream, real frame and text classifiers, the $DCAST mint, a measured Odyssey cost, the seeded runway and a dress rehearsal. While the preview stamp is on, the stream is a pre-rendered loop of dreamed frames through the real broadcast gate, the rundown replays a sample chapter, and numbers marked “(preview)” are sample data. Real today: the STEER builder and simulation against pump.fun, memo parsing, hold checks, the delayed broadcast gate, the clipper, the archive and the 5-minute fee engine (armed, waiting for the mint).
FAQ
- Is this betting?
- No. A steer is an ordinary token buy. Nobody is paid out.
- Do I need to connect a wallet to watch?
- No. You connect only when you steer, claim or vote.
- What if two people steer at the same time?
- The queue is biggest SOL first, then earliest buy.
- What if my prompt is filtered?
- The buy stands, the slot shows [filtered] and the dreamer holds the scene.
- Who is the dreamer?
- The world model itself. It speaks only in the lowercase captions.
Risks
$DCAST is a memecoin on pump.fun; its price can go to zero. The stream depends on Odyssey (Not affiliated with or endorsed by Odyssey) and on the runway; at runway 0 the dream pauses. Not affiliated with Sega. Not financial advice.
